Private Residence,
Minnetonka, MN
Project Description
View from north of front yard with apple orchard and rolling berms planted in fescue. This home was designed to fit into the site and existing neighborhood. Existing vegetation in the foreground was preserved to provide screening to the street.
Views from the east of the entry, entry gardens and guest parking area finished with concrete pavers. The clerestory is clad with a copper standing seam roof and brings natural light into the great room (photos 6 and 7). The cantilevered deck is covered by the roof and is accessed from the library. It overlooks the front yard gardens and the stream.
View from the northwest of the front façade with the arbor covered private deck off of the living room seen in the background at far right. The architecture is designed to become part of the site, which is anchored at the West end of the lot by beautiful mature oaks and many large maples. The overlapping walls of stucco and stone screen west facing windows from the street yet provide views in to the woodland.
View of library looking east into entry and stairway with views to park beyond.
View of great room from granite covered island with deck to West beyond French doors. The clerestory ceiling is finished with stucco and mahogany battens. The clerestory windows bath the rooms in diffused daylight.
View from dining area with see through fireplace to breakfast room beyond. The color of the dining table was re-used as the accent color in the design of the bed and end tables (photo 10).
Reverse view of dining room looking west. The door leads to a screened porch. The built-in buffet is integrated with the large window overlooking the woodland to the West.
Bedroom with custom designed bed and end tables. The limestone wall is a continuation of the exterior wall seen in photo 4.
